Why it asks for a birth time

The ascendant advances about one degree every four minutes, so it crosses a whole sign in roughly two hours. A chart cast for the wrong hour is not slightly off — it has different houses, and every placement sits in a different part of life.

If the time is genuinely unknown, use 12:00. Planets are near enough right; treat the houses and the ascendant as unavailable rather than as answers.

And a birth place

Houses are drawn from the horizon at a specific latitude and longitude, and the timezone is derived from the coordinates rather than assumed — including the historical offset in force on that date.

Place search runs against a local gazetteer on our own server. No part of a birth moment is sent to a third party.

What you need

  1. 01

    The date

Day, month and year of birth.

  2. 02

    The time

Local clock time at the place of birth, as recorded.

  3. 03

    The place

City or town. Coordinates and timezone are resolved from it.

The chart is the beginning, not the answer

The workbench adds transits, progressions, solar returns, synastry and horary — and reads the chart back to you in your own language.
